DAY 1: Airport reception and hotel transfer. After breakfast, we’ll head out to Cerro Azul in 4×4 trucks (approximately a 90-minute ride). Once we arrive, we’ll be able to appreciate ancient cave paintings and pictographs created at different moments in history. Some of them are more than 10,000 years old. You’ll also be able to see anthropomorphic animals, plants, and tools. It’s safe to say that this place offers a cultural legacy for all humanity. Then we’ll take a 210-meter hike through a wide cavern and reach the viewpoint, where we’ll be able to enjoy spectacular views of the vast Guaviare forest.
We’ll rest and share a picnic accompanied by a cold champagne. Then we’ll continue with a hike to the second mural of cave paintings. Back to San José and we’ll have lunch prepared by Cerro Azul’s community. Return to San José, dinner and rest.
DAY 2: Departure from the hotel in 4×4 truck that will take us to Damas del Nare Lagoon (approximately 3 hours), stop for breakfast in the town of Boquerón. Then, we’ll arrive at Los Búfalos where we’ll enjoy a 1-hour walk among the Amazonian Piedmont forest until we reach the ECONARE facilities (a farmer’s association who work community tourism and conservation), along the way we’ll have the possibility to observe birds, primates, ceiba trees, among others.
We’ll arrive at Damas del Nare Lagoon; an exotic 81 hectares Amazonian location of water mirror wich connect to Guaviare River, habitat of river dolphins locally known as “Toninas”, we’ll be able to swim with them. Currently, farmer’s associations changed illicit crops to promote community-based ecotourism and the conservation of their rainforests and biodiversity; offering tourists unforgettable experiences due to the diversity and human touch of their hosts. We’ll be ready for lunch prepared by the community. Return to San José. Dinner and rest.
DAY 3: DURING SUMMER – NOVEMBER TO MAY After having breakfast at the hotel, we’ll head out in 4×4 trucks to get to a torrent of the Guayabero River, Angosturas II. It’s a magical and beautiful place, located in the Bocas del Raudal path, where our canoeing adventure will begin. We’ll canoe on the magnificent canyon of the Angosturas II torrent of the Guayabero River.
During this tour, we’ll be able to appreciate the imposing rock formations that jut out of the water and the thick vegetation, as well as birds and primates. After this wonderful canoe trip, we’ll begin our journey to the cave paintings. From there, our adventure continues a few meters above ground. After winding past rocks and trees to get to the top of the hill, the magical 360-degree view will allow us to really take in the environment. Here, the Guayabero River gets lost between the horizon and the incredibly green vegetation. Indigenous regional dinner with cultural show and artisanal exhibition. Return to San José and rest.
DURING WINTER – JUNE TO OCTOBER After having breakfast at the hotel, we’ll head out in 4×4 trucks that will take us to the northeastern part of the Serranía la Lindosa mountain range, where we’ll visit the amazing Puerta de Orión rock formation. The protected area of Serranía La Lindosa with more than 28,000 hectares of rocky outcrop belonging to the Guiana Shield is one of the oldest rock formations on the planet. The Macarenia clavigera or commonly known as Riverweed, is part of this route; it is an aquatic plant that gives its color to Caño Rosado, a small river of crystalline waters.
Continuing the journey, we can visit the imposing natural bridges, sculpted by the passage of streams of water through time, or the cascade of delights. If the group is of seniors, it is recommended to change the activities of this day and visit Laguna Negra, which offers a canoe tour, where we’ll see birds. Indigenous regional dinner with cultural show and artisanal exhibition. Return to San José and rest.
DAY 4: We’ll have breakfast at the hotel, check out, and then head out to the airport.
