We’ll take a flight leaving the Andes by the Orient towards the plains, entering to Casanare department until arriving at Yopal. We’ll travel by road to the village of El Totumo and there we’ll take a boat that descends along the river Ariporo until you reach the Hato.

Hato La Aurora is recognized for its endless savannas that seem to be lost beyond the horizon, its immense biodiversity in fauna and flora, the kindness in service, the culture, its pristine landscapes and the history expressed in legends and songs that tell stories of love, hunting and fright, while accompanying the harp and maracas.

DAY 1: Our Xplora Colombia team will be waiting for us when we land at El Alcaraván Airport and transfer in 4×4 trucks to El Totumo (approximately 5 hours), where we’ll take a boat to cross the Ariporo River to the Ecolodge Juan Solito (approximately 20 minutes). On our arrival, we’ll be accommodated in our rooms and we’ll have lunch. We’ll be ready to take a guided horseback ride around Juan Solito ecolodge where we’ll identify white-tailed deers, arucos and cattle. Dinner and rest.

DAY 2: After breakfast, the safari will start on the 4×4 trucks to Juan Solito Ecolodge, where we’ll observe animals in wildlife such as alligators, chigüiros, deers, owls and lots of birds like ibis and herons. We’ll have the luch at Juan Solito. In the afternoon back to Juan alone, we’ll observe nocturnal fauna like foxes and alligators, and we’ll enjoy the colors of the sunset. If we are lucky we could observe anacondas, the anteater and the honey bear. At the end of the day we’ll have the dinner and we’ll enjoy a cultural sample accompanied with the harp and maracas.

DAY 3: Breakfast and we’ll be ready to take a boat to cross El Toro river, El Indio river or the Chire River, where we’ll be in contact with a natural environment recognized by peace and calmness. During the trip we’ll observe different species of wildlife like the soldier heron and the water rooster. We’ll fishing, and lunch will be prepared with the collected production in the activity. Return to Juan Solito, dinner and rest.

DAY 4: We’ll wake up early to take a delicious breakfast and to leave to visit a garcero. We’ll leave by boat along the river Ariporo (approximately 15 minutes) observing and listening to a variety of birds and fauna like howler monkeys and chechens that are hidden among the lush trees. We’ll begin a hike to the garcero, on the way we’ll learn to make handles and crickets with the leaves of the royal palm. We’ll do bird watching identifying a lot of birds such as the needle duck, roseate spoonbill and kingfisher, and variety of flora, while we’ll learn about their domestic uses.
